Introduction to Jim

Jim Ditchfield is an Australian writer who was born in Lancashire in 1938. Circumstances forced him to leave home at sixteen, but unable to live on an apprentice's wage he joined the Royal Marine Commandos. Later, he qualified as an instrument engineer and later still became a naval architect and set up his own yacht design office. He now travels extensively throughout the Australian Outback researching the history of the pioneers who, by hard work and sacrifice, helped to build Australia.
